Choosing between us and them
Is this comparison objective?+
The feature claims about Foxel are what our platform does today. The competitor claims are based on their public pricing pages, public terms, and third-party reviews as of the date this page was last updated. If you spot something stale, email hello@foxelfin.com and we will update or correct it. We would rather be accurate than flattering.
What if I just need bookkeeping — am I overpaying with Foxel?+
If bookkeeping is literally all you want and you will never need tax, payroll, formation, or e-signatures, Bench or QuickBooks Live will be cheaper by $50–$100/mo. The Foxel case gets stronger the more pieces of the stack you consolidate — our Growth plan at $299/mo includes 2 returns, unlimited e-signatures, CRM, scheduling, document vault and AI assistant. The equivalent stack elsewhere runs $500+/mo.
Pilot is more expensive — does that mean they are better?+
Pilot targets venture-backed startups with CFO services and R&D tax credits. For a $20M-revenue Series B SaaS, their offering is better fit. For a $200k-revenue agency, service shop or e-commerce brand, you are paying for things you will not use. Match the firm to the business size.
How does Foxel keep up with my CPA?+
Our preparers are PTIN-registered and we comply with IRS Circular 230. We hold current E&O (Errors & Omissions) insurance. If you have a very complex situation — multi-state nexus with 10+ states, aggressive R&D credits, international reporting, high-net-worth personal returns — you may still want a boutique CPA. For the typical US small business, our team covers everything a general CPA would.
Can I switch mid-year?+
Yes. Mid-year switches are common. We take your prior-year return and bring your books current from the switchover date; we do not need you to redo work. Expect 2-3 weeks for the first clean monthly close after switching.
